  • 09/08/2020 1:00 PM - 09/08/2020 3:30 PM

    For grades 7-8, Fees apply

Explore the concepts of pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature & turbidity, and how they determine water quality for salmon. We do this using the scientific method,  experiments, analyzing data, using math skills and learning about how the salmon life cycle is linked to water quality. What makes healthy salmon habitat for migration and spawning will be a focus. Group activities and social skills are always part of the mix!

  • 09/14/2020 1:00 PM - 09/14/2020 3:30 PM

    For grades 4-6, Fee applies

Find out the different characteristics of water quality and how water quality is directly related to the health and life cycle of salmon. We introduce the scientific method, experiment on water samples, learn about the salmon life cycle and watersheds. This workshop introduces students to larger systems thinking and interconnections. Lots of games and hands on activities to solidify concepts.

  • 09/16/2020 9:30 AM - 09/16/2020 12:00 PM

    For grades 7 & 8, Fee applies

Explore the concepts of salinity, conductivity & nutrients in relation to water quality and how these affect salmon. We’ll do experiments, analyze data, dig a soil pit, learn about nutrients  & vegetation and connect these with river banks and bottoms. We will use our findings to determine the water quality for migrating salmon in a local water source. Group activities and social skills are always part of the mix!
