Math Club: IDEA is proud to announce that we will once again be hosting a MATH CLUB this year! We are honored to have as our coach the awesome math and science teacher, Dr. Mike Donaldson, PhD. (Mike loves to incorporate science with mathematics which is a real BLAST!) MATH CLUB is for all IDEA students in grades 4-8. Your student will be engaged in hands-on mathematics and develop a strong foundational background in math as well as having a fun with other students. MATH CLUB incorporates MATH COUNTS which is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging “bee” style contests. There is a registration fee of $30 dollars and students are required to purchase a calculator. This money can be taken out of your allotment. If you have questions or you are interested in having your student participate in MATH CLUB, please email Contact Teacher Mary Ekblad, mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org Find out more about Math Counts at: http://mathcounts.org/ Staff sponsor is Contact Teacher Mary Ekblad. Thanks Mary & Dr. Mike!

High School Art Class 3:30-5pmhttps://www.ideafamilies.org/events/region-f/event/high-school-art-class-330-5pm-2/
There will be a class offered for interested students in basic drawing techniques, the elements of art, and the principles of design. Focus will primarily be on skills rather than production, on pencil drawing with some additional media explored depending upon student interest. Class will be meeting the second and fourth Thursdays of the month for January, February, and March from 3:30-5 pm. It is suggested that students try to attend regularly to benefit from the continuity of instruction. Some flexibility with dates may be necessary, but families will be informed of this in advance if this will be the case. The class will be directed towards students grades 9-12. Mature middle-school students with an interest in art will be considered for participation. Please contact Kathleen Kinney to discuss whether this class will meet your student’s needs.
Please reply to Kathleen.email@example.com with this subject heading to let her know of your interest, student names, grades, and best way to contact you. Thank you for your interest.
