    1st Quarter Work Sample Early Birds:  Earn a $10.00 Resource Room Coupon per student, here’s how:

    1)  Turn in complete 1st quarter work samples to the IDEA office on or before Monday, October 1, 2018.  The actual due date for on-time work samples is OCT 15.  

    2)  If your students need to do a work sample demonstration in person at the office then make an appointment with your contact teacher to do so.

    3)  This is also an excellent opportunity for your students to write and submit a short paragraph about any photos you submit as their PE work samples.

    4Appointments must take place on or before Monday, October 1, 2018.

    5)  Work samples must be complete

    6)  For each set of complete work samples (per student) turned in you will receive a $10.00 Resource Room Coupon.

    7)  If you turn in your work samples at the reception desk they will date stamped.  You can also turn them in after hours at the drop box (looks like a silver/gray mailbox) under the IDEA sign in the parking lot.

    8)  Please make sure your student’s first AND last name, grade and Contact Teacher are legibly listed on EACH page of your Work Samples.  We have over 950 students being served just out of our Fairbanks office so we really need this information on each page so your students can receive proper credit for their work.  Thank you for helping us with this.

    Math Club: IDEA is proud to announce that we will once again be hosting a MATH CLUB this year! We are honored to have as our coach the awesome math and science teacher, Dr. Mike Donaldson, PhD. (Mike loves to incorporate science with mathematics which is a real BLAST!) MATH CLUB is for all IDEA students in grades 4-8. Your student will be engaged in hands-on mathematics and develop a strong foundational background in math as well as having a fun with other students. MATH CLUB incorporates MATH COUNTS which is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging “bee” style contests. There is a registration fee of $30 dollars and students are required to purchase a calculator. This money can be taken out of your allotment.     K-4 Art Workshop: Postcards from Van Gough

    For IDEA students in grades K-4

    TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16 from 2-4pm @ IDEA

    Students will learn that Vincent Van Gough wrote many letters during his lifetime. Students will be inspired from his “postcard” paintings to create their own landscape. There is a $5.00 fee per student which can be deducted from allotment providing you have either art, writing, reading or social studies on your ILP. Parents must stay with their student for this workshop.

    Come join us for tea and light refreshments as veteran homeschool parents share their “TOP 10” lists with you! Learn ways to organize, manage time, school multiple ages and with littles, engage your students, and add humor and delight in your homeschool. Have questions? Our homeschool panel will share their knowledge and experiences with you.

    This is a kid-free event, so please arrange for childcare. Homeschool spouses are welcome!

    For IDEA students in grades 4-8. This team is just for fun (no competitions). You must pre-register to attend. Please email Coach Jen Schutte at gjschutte@ideafamilies.org

    Will meet Tuesdays from 11am-12:30pm at IDEA. The Oct 23 meeting will be 9-10:30am. Starts Oct 2 runs through Feb 26. Coaches are IDEA parents Jen Schutte and Mike Groves. Thanks Jen & Mike!
