Ages 9-18 Running Club
Would you like to visit with families who have students your age and enjoy the last bits of running trails before the snow? Then come join IDEA’s Running Club. Kids age 9 and up and adults may join the club which will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning August 23rd through September 8th. And then on Thursdays until September 29thth from 3:00pm – 4:00pm at Westchester Lagoon Playground.
Parents, you are welcome to participate in Running Club or stay at the Westchester Lagoon Playground area in case your student needs you. We will learn stretching techniques and begin training on the bike path. Our goal is to learn a bit about running. High School Academic Decathlon Study Group
IDEA’s High School Academic Decathlon Study group has unique opportunity for scholarships and comradery. There is still time to join that group that meets weekly in person at the Anchorage IDEA office. Also some members log in via TEAMS and some study on their own at home and meet for fewer study sessions. See the flyer and consider joining.
Teen Night
IDEA Teen Night. First Friday of every month. This is a great time for teens to visit, play games and enjoy gathering. Parents are welcome to hang out. For each Friday, at least two parents must commit to staying on site. (There will be sign-up sheet so that parents can take at least one turn assisting the Contact Teacher coordinating the event). Join us for encouragement and to share your IDEAs. IDEA was developed and continues as a program “By Homeschoolers For Homeschoolers” because of our parent input. All IDEA parents are invited to join the meeting @ 1:30 PM. Most meetings last one hour.

Family Field Trip to Ak Botanical Gardens
Family Field Trip to Ak Botanical Gardens – Thursday, September 22
Families are invited to arrive at the AK Botanical Gardens from noon to 3 o’clock to enjoy a self-tour of the gardens. Bring a lunch and enjoy it in the picnic area!
While at the Botanical Gardens, students in grades 7-12 are invited to participate in a Plants as Medicine Workshop from 1-2:15.

K-12 Worlds Fair
The IDEA Region A Worlds Fair is an exhibition, not a competition! Each booth represents a country or small region of the world. Families create displays that showcase the heritage, culture, history, politics, art, geography, food, games and crafts specific to their chosen place. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes or clothing from their chosen locale. Be festive!
