CSI: AK Forensic Science Camp
This class is designed to introduce youth to careers in public safety, science careers supporting crime scene investigation, and an introduction into firearms and archery safety. Instructors from the State Crime lab, Alaska State Troopers, U.S. Marshal Service, FBI, APD, Alaska Fish and Wildlife Troopers, and Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game.

General Orientation Meeting (Registration Required)

All meetings are at the Anchorage IDEA Office, 670 West Fireweed Lane. New families and families who have missed a General Orientation are encouraged to attend a General Orientation. You’ll meet other homeschoolers and we’ll cover how to use many of the resources available to you! This will $ave you time and money! Some families enjoying attending a General Orientation as a refresher and you are always welcome!!

Region A IDEA Families are invited to visit and play at the Dome on August 18th from 1 to 3 PM. The Dome staff will direct students in play for Laser Tag, RC Car play, sports & fitness activities and parents can visit the Lesson Instruction Vendors Expo (where vendors are available at tables on the track surrounding the turf!
There is a toddler play area where parents or a mature student must accompany children ages 0 to 4.
Prize Drawing for families who visit the tables!
Visit homeschool parents & staff. Socialize in the toddler area. Bring water only. No food allowed on track or turf!!
To make this event enjoyable for all and assure that the Dome will have sufficient staffing, please check your Monday email. Thank you!

August Parent Meeting Intro to PAC
Parents are invited to attend the Parent Advisory Committee’s first meeting of the year. Normally, PAC meetings will occur on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
Parent Advisory Committee: Your connection to community, fun, and where great ideas are born! Join us!
Most meetings last only one hour. Feel free to come 1/2 hour earlier with your bag lunch and visit!

K-6 (Poetry) Recitation Station Information Meeting
Before the Pandemic, this group of parents & 20 students would meet to learn about and discuss poetry. There was always a long waiting list to participate in this group.
So, this meeting at the IDEA office on Tuesday, August 30 from 2-3 PM will be your opportunity –
1. There may be openings in this group (more details will be posted soon) Recitation will meet at the IDEA office and the last Tuesday of each month .
2. Any parent can start a group and request meeting space at the IDEA office or have meetings at their home/ other meeting places. If you’d like to know what you could include, please plan to attend.
