Please join us for the IDEA Curriculum Fair at The Egan Center in Anchorage on Thursday and Friday, April 25-26, 2013!


Schedule of Events, Thursday:

7:45 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. ~ Keynote Breakfast with Carol Simpson in Explorer's Hall (Cook Room, far left on main floor) (Meal served at 8:15)
10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. ~ Exhibit Hall open in Explorer's Hall (main floor)
10:15 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ~ Workshops downstairs in four rooms in Summit Hall

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. ~ Exhibit Hall open in Explorers Hall (main floor)
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. ~ Workshops downstairs in four rooms in Summit Hall

Costs:

Keynote breakfast ~ $12 pre-pay only. Purchase tickets at the Anchorage Office (670 W. Fireweed, 562-4332) or the Wasilla Office (705 S. Knik Goose Bay Rd. Suite E, 357-4850)

Exhibit hall and workshops (IDEA families) ~ No charge.
Exhibit hall and workshops (non-IDEA families) ~ Admission is $20/family for both days when paid at once. (Return on second day with your nametags from day one in order to enter without charge the second day.) If attendance will be for only one day, the admission fee is $15 for one day.

Parking (The Egan Center is on 5th Avenue, between E and F Streets, across from Town Square Park):

If you park in one of these city parking lots, we can validate your parking. When you bring your parking ticket from one of these parking garages, and pay us $4.00 (correct change, please) we will validate your ticket and your parking will be much less expensive. (The regular rate is $1.25 an hour. Metered parking on the street is free 6:00 pm - 9:00 am.) You must park in one of the garages below in order to take advantage of the validator.

JC Penney Garage
6th Avenue, between D and E Streets.
Enter from 6th Avenue or E Street.
Walk north across Town Square to Egan Center.

5th Avenue Parking Garage (Near 5th Avenue Mall)
Entire block between 5th and 6th Avenues and B and C Streets.
Walk west on 5th to Egan Center, corner of 5th and E.

6th Avenue Parking Garage (People Mover Garage)
Entrance on H Street.
Walk north to 5th Avenue, and turn east to Egan Center.

Meals:

The concession stand in the exhibit hall will be open from 10:00-6:00 on Thursday and 10:00-2:00 on Friday. There will also be a coffee cart at the top of the escalator (open 9:00-2:00 both days), with sandwiches, fruit, cookies, bottled water & sodas. In addition, there are several restaurants within walking distance of the Egan Center.

Driving directions from Anchorage Airport to the Hotel Captain Cook:

  1. Exit airport - You will be on W. International Airport Road.
  2. Drive about 2 miles to Minnesota Drive.
  3. Take second exit on right onto Minnesota going north, toward downtown.
  4. Drive on Minnesota for about 3 miles; it will curve and become I Street as you get close to downtown.
  5. Continue on I Street for about 3/4 mile. Turn left on 4th Avenue.
  6. The hotel takes up the block between 4th adn 5th, and I and K, but the entrance where you can pull in and unload is on 4th Avenue. There is a parking garage in the next block west, with vehicle entrances on both 4th and 5th Avenues. (There is a pedestrian entrance on K Street, directly across from the Cook.)
  7. The Egan Center is four blocks east. The pedestrian (public) access is on 5th Avenue, and the unloading area is in an alley behind it. To get to the alley with a vehicle, take K Street or L Street to 6th Avenue (turn left; it is one-way going east), then turn left on E Street (one-way going north) and turn left into the alley behind the Egan Center.
